Spanish artist and designer Arturo Álvarez is known for his distinctive approach to light, sculpture and material. For more than three decades, his work has explored the emotional possibilities of light, transforming unconventional materials into expressive, often organic forms that blur the boundaries between art and design.

His creations are deeply connected to craftsmanship and experimentation, with each piece shaped through a highly personal artistic process. Light is never simply functional in Álvarez’s work; it becomes part of the sculpture itself, revealing textures, creating shadows and transforming the surrounding space.

Through his sculptural installations, Álvarez explores recurring themes of human identity, nature and our relationship with the environment, creating works that invite contemplation and change depending on the viewer’s perspective. His unmistakable visual language has established him as a distinctive voice in contemporary sculptural lighting and collectible design.

Description

Part sculpture, part light installation, this limited-edition wall piece by Arturo Álvarez transforms metallic mesh into an ethereal human presence.

Each mask is delicately shaped by hand, creating a remarkable sense of volume despite the material’s almost weightless appearance. Once illuminated, light passes through the translucent structure and casts a striking shadow onto the wall, extending the artwork beyond its physical form.

Created in 2023 and produced in a limited edition of 99 pieces, each sculpture is made exclusively for its collector.
